Western Plains Correctional Centre (Western Plains) is Victoria's newest maximum-security correctional facility, designed to house up to 1,248 people in custody.
Western Plains is a multi-purpose facility that adapts to the evolving needs of Corrections Victoria. It features purpose-built modern amenities including medical wards, a cultural centre and vocational training facilities. It utilises cutting-edge technology to keep the facility secure, allowing staff to focus on supporting the rehabilitation of people in custody.
Western Plains will open mid-2025 and Corrections Victoria are now recruiting key roles to help shape the future operations of the facility.
About the role
The Program Facilitator is part of the Offender Services team, responsible for the coordination and delivery of rehabilitation, reintegration and specialist support services at Western Plains.
In this role, you will develop, coordinate and deliver programs addressing the rehabilitation needs of remand and sentenced individuals. Your work will involve supporting and motivating participants to foster engagement, positive behaviour change and life skills development.
You will contribute to the development of a positive pro-social environment and a multi-disciplinary approach to rehabilitation at Western Plains. The role also contributes to the delivery of the Corrections Victoria Reintegration Pathway and participates in case management activity as required.
About you
You understand the rehabilitation needs and issues experienced by people in custody. You have prior experience coordinating programs, preferably within a rehabilitation or social services field. You can work with people who are difficult to engage in both individual and group settings. You communicate effectively and sensitively with diverse groups, including Aboriginal and Torres Strat Islander communities.
Relevant training, certification and/or qualification in is desirable.
