Western Plains Correctional Centre (Western Plains) is Victoria's newest maximum-security correctional facility, designed to house up to 1,248 people in custody.
Western Plains is a multi-purpose facility that adapts to the evolving needs of Corrections Victoria. It features purpose-built modern amenities including medical wards, a cultural centre and vocational training facilities. It utilises cutting-edge technology to keep the facility secure, allowing staff to focus on supporting the rehabilitation of people in custody.
Western Plains will open mid-2025 and Corrections Victoria are now recruiting key roles to help shape the future operations of the facility.
About the role
The Records Officer, Client Services is part of the Workforce and Prison Services team, dedicated to delivering services support to prison operational teams and people in custody.
The role is responsible for ensuring the compliant, efficient and client focussed delivery of prison records across the facility. The Records team is part of the broader Client Services team and supports the centre in several service areas, including:
- prisoner property
- prisoner finance
- gatehouse customer service
- operational logistics
- prisoner records
- prison internal transport
In the role, you will ensure all processes are compliant with legislative and organisational requirements. You will assist the Supervisor, Client Services in improving prison services to support custodial operations at Western Plains. You will liaise with stakeholders across the facility including staff, clients, and people in custody.
The role involves direct contact with the people in our care and may involve weekend, morning and afternoon shift work, with remuneration supplied. As the role is customer-facing, you will be required to work on-site with no working from home capacity.
About you
You are highly organised and can prioritise, manage workloads and work productively with minimal supervision. Your exceptional customer service skills enable you to engage confidently with people in our care, staff, and visitors to the centre.
You bring advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to design electronic tools that improve process efficiency, enhance data accuracy, and minimise duplication. Knowledge and experience with E-Justice and PIMS systems would be an advantage.
