The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Workforce Development Supervisor to provide a critical role at Corrections Victoria.
About the Role
The Workforce Development Supervisor (WDS) is responsible for three prisons, two within the Loddon Prison Precinct which includes a medium risk facility (Loddon) and a restricted minimum facility (Middleton). The third prison is located at Maldon, a minimum risk women's facility; Tarrengower Prison.
The Workforce Development Supervisor leads and manages a small team responsible for overseeing workforce development by enabling opportunities for staff to participate in appropriate and relevant training and supporting capability development plans. The role will also work closely with all stakeholders to build operational capability.
The position will ensure compliance with the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) standards, oversee the coordination of trainers and assessors, and ensure alignment with the Department of Justice and Regulation Human Resources Learning and Development unit.
This position will require travel across the Region, may require direct prisoner contact and may involve weekend and public holiday work, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Enterprise Agreement.
Some of your duties will include:
- Oversee the delivery of a wide variety of training and professional development programs for Loddon, Middleton and Tarrengower staff, including the evaluation of these programs.
- Ensure programs are coordinated in alignment with strategic and operational goals including time and budgetary considerations.
- Promote a learning environment that ensures compliance with all legislative and corporate governance requirements and Registered Training Organisation standards
- Coordinate the pre-service training and maintenance of operational manning capability for custodial staff.
- Coordinate the Performance Development Plan process for the region and provide expert advice in the development of plans for staff.
- Scope, plan and manage projects, recommendations and strategies for L&D initiatives that anticipate and address issues and support innovative service improvements and effective delivery of programs.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated ability to plan, manage and implement training solutions or delivery of corporate functions.
- Knowledge and experience of competency-based training and assessment, including the program evaluation techniques is desirable.
- Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (TAE) desirable
