The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Projects Officer to provide a critical role within Review, Investigations & Monitoring.
About the Business Unit
Corrections Victoria's Parole and Court Practice (PCP) has system oversight responsibility for the direction, management, and operation of Victoria's Community Correctional Services (CCS) across more than 35 locations. PCP includes the System Integrity, Practice Development and Review Branch (PDRB), Statewide Community Work and Partnerships (SCWP), Court Assessment and Prosecutions Services (CAPS) Central Unit, and Parole Central Unit (PCU).
This position sits within the CCS Practice Development and Review Branch, Reviews, Investigations and Monitoring Team. The Review, Investigations and Monitoring team is responsible for central coordination of all incidents, review and investigation functions across CCS. This includes internal investigations and reviews as well as those undertaken by external independent parties such as the Justice Assurance and Review Office (JARO) as well as the Coroner's Court of Victoria. The team also have responsibility for various portfolios including the coordination of the state-wide CCS Quality Assurance Audits and coordination of the centralised subpoena process.
About the Role
Reporting to a Senior Project Officer, this role will be responsible for oversight of the external and internal reviews and investigations relating to CCS. The Projects Officer is also required to contribute to development of CCS policy and monitor CCS' progress against review action plans and initiatives. The position will prepare and co-ordinate complex correspondence, briefings and reports and other ad hoc projects on behalf of the Manager, Reviews Investigations and Monitoring.
Some of your duties will include:
- Manage and monitor external and internal CCS reviews and investigations along with any Action Plans associated with these reviews.
- Provide timely and accurate advice to senior CCS managers, stakeholders and operational staff.
- Manage, draft, prepare and co-ordinate complex correspondence, briefings and reports on behalf of the Senior Project Officer and Manager, Review, Investigations & Monitoring.
- Maintenance of high-level record management, monitoring, and reporting.
- Attend a range of internal and external forums or conferences and liaise with senior managers, location staff, other Justice agencies and external stakeholders providing advice, training and information.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated understanding and awareness of the key issues impacting the Corrections portfolio.
- Background in or knowledge of Community Correctional Services operations is desirable.
Qualifications/requirements
- There are no mandatory qualifications for this role; however, a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline would be highly desirable.
