The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking an Information Technology Compliance Officer, to provide a critical role within CV Intelligence Unit.

About the Business Unit

Corrections Victoria (CV) is responsible for the direction, management and operation of Victoria's corrections system, which incorporates prisons and Community Correctional Services. As a service agency within the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS), Corrections Victoria develops and implements policies, programs and services that ensure the safe and secure containment of prisoners, and that seek to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour. In doing so, Corrections Victoria delivers a safe and secure corrections system that actively engages offenders and the community to promote positive behaviour change.

The Corrections Victoria Intelligence Unit (CVIU) is a business unit within the Security and Intelligence Division (SID) of CV. CVIU delivers intelligence services to decision makers across CV and its stakeholders in order to contribute to the security and good order of correctional facilities and support the effective management of offenders in the community. Corrections Victoria Intelligence Service (CVIS) is the overarching intelligence service for CV. The CVIS is comprised of the primary intelligence unit known as the CVIU, and localised prison intelligence units located at the public and private prison facilities in Victoria.

About the Role

The purpose of the Information Technology Compliance Officer is to assist in the effective and secure management of prisoner access to computer technology, the development and implementation of policies, programs and services that provide education around the safe and secure use of ICT. This position will continuously seek ways to improve services and be committed to delivering high quality outcomes.

The position of the Information Technology Compliance Officer will be responsible for providing project management assistance and support to the Digital Forensics team. You will establish and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, build trust through consistent actions, values and communication.

The location of this role is primarily based out of CVIU Headquarters at State-wide Services Building (SSB) Ravenhall and has requirements to attend other locations as needed.

Some of your duties will include:

• Liaise with and build relationships with a range of stakeholders, providing effective and timely technical input and support. Conversant knowledge of the latest technology changes regarding software and hardware security.
• Responsible for hardware procurement, standard builds and conducting computer forensic examinations to detect unauthorised and illegal hardware, software and programs on computers used by offenders.
• Conduct forensic examinations to detect unauthorised and illegal hardware, software, internet access and programs on devices used by offenders.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Sound knowledge of industry standard Operating Systems, Microsoft Suites, anti-virus and security software in an ICT environment.
• Demonstrated ability in advanced ICT Security Management and Risk Mitigation Strategies.
• Sound and current knowledge of industry best practice.
• Sound working knowledge of forensic software's used in the industry (desirable).

Qualifications/requirements

• A relevant qualification in Information Computer Technology.
• An industry qualification and/or relevant industry experience would be highly desirable.
• Negative Vetting 1 security clearance to be obtained within 12 months of commencement of the role.
