This is an exciting opportunity to join Forensic Intervention Services as a Forensic Senior Clinician, Provisional Practice within the Workforce Development, Internship Pathway team on a fixed term basis.

What does Forensic Intervention Services do? 

As a division of Corrections Victoria, Forensic Intervention Services is a specialist program area that provides people in custody and on community correctional orders with evidence-based screening, assessment, and offence-specific intervention services to support their rehabilitation. In doing so, Forensic Intervention Services is a critical component of the department's strategy to reduce reoffending and contribute to community safety. 

What will the Forensic Senior Clinician, Provisional Practice, do? 

The Forensic Senior Clinician, Provisional Practice leads the operation and integration of the Forensic Internship Pathway into the broader structural model. Overseeing a maximum of five interns, the role provides high quality clinical supervision, management and mentoring to Forensic Interns who are on a graduated learning and development journey toward becoming a Forensic Clinician with Forensic Intervention Services. The primary focus of this role is to ensure the development of clinically sound, ethically safe, skilled and knowledgeable clinical staff who are able to execute the mandate of Forensic Intervention Services at a foundational level.

In order to ensure currency of skills, maintain ongoing professional registration requirements and maintain contemporary knowledge of the service delivery model, the Forensic Senior Clinician, Provisional Practice is expected to engage in direct clinical service delivery and provide high level clinical advice pertaining to the risk management of people in custody or on community correctional orders.

What skills should the Forensic Senior Clinician, Provisional Practice, have? 

As our ideal candidate, your skill set should complement the ability to:

• Effectively communicate with people from diverse professional backgrounds
• Lead and manage a team of multidisciplinary people
• Understand different learning approaches and supervision frameworks and tailor these to your management and supervision style
• Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with varied clinical and non-clinical stakeholders and multidisciplinary colleagues.
• Demonstrate a high level of knowledge regarding forensic risk assessment and intervention
• Demonstrate a high level of knowledge pertaining to the theories that underpin sexual and violent offending
• Efficiently manage IT systems
• Experience in using government systems and Microsoft Office suite is highly desirable.  

Qualifications

• Registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA); and 
• Psychology Board of Australia Board-approved supervisor status is required. 
• Minimum four years post-registration clinical experience (in a forensic setting, is desirable) and demonstrated knowledge of Psychology Board of Australia requirements for meeting core competencies required for general registration is required. 
• Demonstrated experience with supervising Provisional Psychologists to registration is desirable. 
• Forensic Psychology endorsement and Psychology Board of Australia Board-approved registrar program principal supervisor status, in forensic psychology, is desirable. 
• A current Victorian driver's licence is required.
