The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Project Support Officer – Employment Pathways to provide a critical role at Western Plains Correctional Centre

Western Plains Correctional Centre is a modern, maximum-security prison focussed on rehabilitation, housing up to 1248 people in custody. About the Role
The Employment Pathways Team within Corrections Victoria is engaged in developing and implementing a state-wide coordinated employment function across Victoria's prison system.
The Project Support Officer is responsible for providing a wide range of support to the day-to-day functioning of the Employment Hub and the Employment Specialist. They will also contribute to wider initiatives and activities of the Employment Pathways Team.
Some of your duties will include:
- Work closely with the Employment Specialist to build awareness and understanding of the Employment Hub and specific employment services and support within the prison community through relationship building with staff and strategic communication efforts directed to people in prison.
- Assist the Employment Specialist to connect people in prisons with specialist employment agencies and existing employment programs such as Outside Jobs and Vacro Second Chance Jobs programs – extracting and collating relevant candidate information, booking meetings with agencies, taking minutes, and noting follow up actions.
- Work with the Employment Specialist to advertise, promote and manage recruitment efforts as part of recruitment campaigns initiated by the Employment Pathways Team - posting vacancies on jobs boards, taking referrals from staff, collating candidate information, maintaining databases and records.
- Participate and contribute to planning and delivering on-site employment related events such as Employment Pathways expos, employer showcases, external stakeholder visits or employment information sessions - liaising with external stakeholders, coordinating visitation requirements, securing, and displaying collateral, recording outcomes and follow up activities.
- Support the Employment Specialist by assisting them to deliver employment case management.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Understanding and awareness of Corrections Victoria and the key issues impacting Corrections Victoria, particularly within the area of program and services for people engaged in the justice system.
- Some awareness or experience in employment services or recruitment services, or in the delivery of a service focused program to enhance peoples' wellbeing, ideally in a correctional setting (preferred but not essential).
- Demonstrated experience in providing high quality program delivery support.
