Team Leader, Youth Justice Court Advice Service - Central Courts - Melbourne

About this role

• Ongoing, full time position based in Melbourne CBD
• Help contribute to the rehabilitation of individuals leading to greater community safety
• Salary band of $107,680 - $118,816 plus superannuation plus yearly increases

The Youth Justice Service is responsible for supervision and case management of young people between 12 and 21 years of age who have committed offences and been made subject to supervised bail, supervised community orders, or youth parole.

About the role:

The Youth Justice Court Advice Service (YJCAS) provides advice to courts and others in criminal proceedings involving young people. The Youth Justice Court Advice worker forms part of the Youth Justice Court Advice Service (YJCAS) – representing Youth Justice, provide advice to the court and stakeholders, and delivering assessments and interventions when required.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the day-to-day operation of the Youth Justice Court Advice Service across Melbourne central courts.
• Providing timely written and verbal advice to the Court, ensuring all advice is accurate and aligned with legislation and Youth Justice policy.
• Leading and supporting development of Youth Justice Court Advice Service staff to ensure practice aligns with Youth Justice and departmental policies, and legislation.

About you:

• A relevant qualification in either social work, youth work, psychology, human services, criminology, or criminal justice (desirable).
• A full driver's licence is required.
• A current Employee Working with Children Check (WWCC) card is required and will need to be provided prior to commencement of employment by the applicant. Currency will need to be maintained by the employee for the period of employment.
