  • Due to continued growth, we are recruiting an additional Advanced Case Manager in our Carlton office (note to be relocating to Melbourne CBD in mid-2018)
  • Working from a modern CBD fully refurbished office close to Melbourne Central, Queen Victoria Markets and the Melbourne legal precinct, with an abundance of public transport options on our doorstep allows easy access for staff from all areas of greater Melbourne.
  • Play a critical role in helping support community safety and reduction of harm, whilst managing smaller caseloads of high risk and complex offenders within the community and in preparation for their release from custody
  • Competitive salary: $81,354 - $92,304 per annum plus superannuation
  • 5 weeks paid pre-service training followed by a supported and graduated caseload allocation
  • 1 x ongoing and 1 x fixed term full time positions


About the role

You'll be managing smaller caseloads of complex and high risk offenders on court orders by using your professional judgement, experience and training to:

  • Conducting risk assessments
  • Preparing case plans, intervention plans and offence maps
  • Challenging offending behaviours through pro-social modelling
  • Linking offenders with community services and liaising regularly with stakeholders
  • Ensuring court orders are complied with through regular process of review (formal and informal) supported by experienced senior staff and a dedicated professional practice stream

You will also have the opportunity to access ongoing training to support your learning and professional development via the Department of Justice and Regulations comprehensive learning and development platform.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role you will:
• Have best practice knowledge of case management frameworks particularly when working with involuntary clients
• Have the ability to apply theory to reduce risk and improve outcomes for the individual and the community
• Be flexible, and resilient, with drive and commitment
• Have highly developed verbal and written communications skills, including confidence in presenting complex information in court
• Have a relevant qualification in social work, related human services discipline such as psychology or alcohol and drug therapy/counselling, criminal justice or criminology (preferred)
• Have relevant work experience in a related field, including other complex cases such as homelessness, drug and alcohol, and child protection (desirable)
