The Contract Management Branch (CMB), Business Services, within Corrections Victoria (CV), is directly responsible for the management of a number of major prisons and prisoner related contracts as well as oversight of other contracts within CV. 

The CMB have an ongoing Contract Officer vacancy in the Private Prison Contract team. The Contract Officer will be responsible for compliance and administration activities relating to the Private Prison Contact.  

This role will support a private prison contract managed by the CMB, monitoring various components of the contract and contributing to ongoing contract management functions ensuring the contract is delivered to required standards.   

The Contract Officer will report to the General Manager, Private Prison Contract, however will provide support, advice and assistance across the entire Private Prison portfolio. It is the aim of the CMB to provide expert contract support, regardless of the specific prison contract. 

This role will conduct a number of the key requirements onsite at the various prison locations. At times this may require travel to a regional prison location, which may involve overnight travel.

Key requirements of the role include: 

  • monitoring, auditing and validation of the contract to ensure delivery to required standards
  • maintain onsite presence in order to review and validate the delivery of the contract
  • investigate, analyse and report on issues and events that occur at the prison for presentation to senior and executive management
  • support and manage the strategic relationships between the branch, contractors and other key stakeholders
  • engage and manage small scale projects and strategic tasks as directed by the General Manager, Private Prison Contract 

As our ideal candidate, you will have: 

  • demonstrated experience in delivering contract management and governance activities
  • proven ability to undertake analysis and provide analysis and advice
  • ability to prepare comprehensive written reports and briefings
  • excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills
  • ideally an understanding of the corrections environment
