An exciting opportunity exists for a General Manager, Operations in the Adult Parole Board Victoria within Corrections Victoria.

About us

The Adult Parole Board (the Board) is an independent statutory authority, established under the Corrections Act 1968. The Board's statutory functions include making decisions to grant parole to eligible prisoners, to impose conditions on parole, and to cancel parole. The Board's paramount consideration in its parole decision making is the safety and protection of the community.

About the role

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the General Manager, Operations has responsibility for the management of the Operations and Registry divisions of the Board's secretariat.

The role will include working closely with and supporting the Manager, Operations,  and the Manager, Registry.

The role will ensure the following:

  • Identify and manage emerging issues and trends and provide authoritative advice, briefings and recommendations.
  • Participation in the development and implementation of planning processes, promoting workplace reform initiatives.
  • Act as a point of contact and liaison with prison authorities, Community Correctional Services and other service providers
  • Supervise Managers for Operations and Registry divisions and provide all staff with training and development

About you

To be successful you will have:

  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system
  • Proven leadership skills with experience in a team based service sector environment
  • Knowledge of the various legislative instruments and policies relating to the Board and the public sector management would be desirable.
  • Proven abilities and confidence in the use and operation of computer based packages
