About us

Corrections Victoria's Post Sentence Branch (formally Sex Offender Management Branch) provides a coordinated and integrated approach to the management of post-sentence sexual offenders across both prison services and community corrections.

Within the operational area, Corella Place is a Transitional Accommodation Facility that is staffed 24/7 to enhance the protection of the community by providing accommodation for sex offenders when suitable accommodation elsewhere in the community is not available. Corella Place operates at three sites, two at Warrak Rd, Ararat and a third at Langi Kal Kal Rd Trawalla.

About the role

Specialist Case Workers (SCWs) are required to supervise and monitor high risk, high profile and high needs sex offenders applying tact, sound judgment and practical problem solving skills. SCW's are responsible for maintaining the good order and security of the facility, including conducting searches and responding to incidents.

What will a Specialist Case Worker do?

  • Responsible for supervising, monitoring and motivating sexual offenders residing at Corella Place Transitional Facility (all three sites) to work towards reducing the risk of re-offending.
  • Accompanying residents on outings, giving lawful directions to residents as required, and observe and report on order compliance and progress relating to individual case management goals.
  • Play an active role in developing and maintaining a culture that supports rehabilitation and transition and reflects the Corella Place Mission Statement.
  • Collaborate with Specialist Case Managers (SCMs) to co-case manage residents, reinforce case goals and encourage appropriate interactions and pro-social living skills.
  • Manage offenders in line with the Corrections Victoria's Offender Management Framework and utilise motivational interaction interviewing techniques.
  • Report incidents and non-compliance as required in accordance with reporting procedures.
  • Interview, assess and report on offenders to the Post Sentence Authority, the Courts and Corrections Victoria when required.
  • Promote and demonstrate a continuous improvement philosophy, engaging in effective quality assurance practices and procedures.
  • Perform shift work.
  • Undertake duties in the Electronic Monitoring Centre, Corella Place and perform duties at all Corella Place three sites monitoring movements of offenders.

About you

SCW's must have strong communication skills, including the ability to negotiate with, influence and motivate offenders and form part of a committed and professional team.
