The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking Specialist Case Workers to provide a critical role at Corella House
About the Business Unit
The Post Sentence Branch, within the Community Operations Offender Services Division of Corrections Victoria, provides central oversight and governance of the post sentence scheme and offenders subject to post sentence orders. The Serious Offenders Act provides the legal framework for a residential treatment facility where a court may order supervised offenders to reside.
Located near the rural city of Ararat in south-west Victoria, Corella Place is a Transitional Accommodation Facility that is staffed 24/7 to enhance the protection of the community by providing accommodation for sex offenders when suitable accommodation elsewhere in the community is not available.
About the Role
Specialist Case Workers (SCWs) are responsible to supervise and monitor high risk, high profile and high needs sex offenders applying tact, sound judgement and practical problem solving skills. SCWs are responsible for maintaining the good order and security of the facility, including conducting searches and responding to incidents
Some of your duties will include:
- Conducting searches and security checks and exercising specific delegations and functions
- Play an active role in developing and maintaining a culture that supports rehabilitation and transition
- Accompanying residents on outings, giving lawful directions to residents as required, and observe and report on order compliance
- Collaborate with Specialist Case Managers (SCMs) to co-case manage residents, reinforce case goals and encourage appropriate interactions and pro-social living skills
- Undertake duties in the Electronic Monitoring Centre performing duties as required in regards to offender movement

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Ability to create a safe and rehabilitative environment for residents and apply pro-social role modelling.
- Capacity to understand and apply relevant legislation, procedures, guidelines and policies within the criminal justice system of Victoria.
- Ability to proactively respond to the complex needs of residents through a responsive, tailored and flexible support approach.
Qualifications/requirements
- Applicants with a qualification and/or relevant experience.
- A current Victorian Drivers Licence is required.
