Located across the North West Metropolitan Area are nine non-custodial locations in Carlton, Broadmeadows, Reservoir, Heidelberg, Greensborough, Melton, Sunshine, Werribee and the Neighbourhood Justice Centre in Collingwood. There are four custodial locations: maximum security prisons Metropolitan Remand Centre, Dame Phyllis Frost Centre and Melbourne Assessment Prison and the minimum security Judy Lazarus Transition Centre.

The Metropolitan Remand Centre is a 954 bed maximum-security facility for unsentenced male offenders located within the West Metropolitan Region, Department of Justice and Regulation.
