About us

The Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC) is a 954 bed maximum security facility for unsentenced male offenders located in Ravenhall, in Melbourne's western suburbs.

About the role

As the Human Resources Officer, you will undertake a wide range of tasks as part of the busy HR team at MRC. Primarily, you will be responsible for the finance functions within the team, including payroll and rostering. Your duties will include:

  • maintaining payroll and personnel functions, through payroll data entry, administration, reconciliation and processing salary data and hours worked
  • providing advice to staff on general HR matters, such as entitlements, leave and position responsibilities
  • preparing, updating and maintaining staff rosters, ensuring coverage
  • participating in recruitment and selection processes
  • processing WorkCover claims.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • experience in providing high level administrative support, ideally within a HR or Finance environment
  • a passion for providing exceptional customer service, with the ability to prioritise your work without compromising on quality
  • experience in the use of a payroll system (chris21 would be advantageous)
  • a good knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines and regulations
  • excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • a commitment to working as part of a high performing team.
