About us

Corrections Victoria manages some 50 Community Correctional Service locations across the state and is responsible for managing Victoria's 11 public prisons and overseeing the contracts relating to the management of two privately operated prisons. In doing so, Corrections Victoria delivers a safe and secure corrections system that actively engages offenders and the community to promote positive behaviour change.

The Metropolitan Remand Centre, Ravenhall, is a 954 bed maximum-security facility for unsentenced male offenders located within the West Metropolitan Region, Department of Justice.

About the role

Industry Officers are responsible for the management and delivery of specific functions within prison industries.

As the Industry Officer – Metal (Spray Painting), you will be responsible for:

  • overseeing the efficient and effective management of the metal/spray painting industry
  • supervising and controlling prisoners employed in the industry
  • assessing the performance of prisoners and undertaking professional development, as required
  • ensuring all prisoners are assigned adequate work
  • ensuring a safe operating environment, adhering and complying with the Occupational Health and Safety requirements.

This is an ongoing, full time position.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • qualifications and relevant experience in a Trade area, in particular Spray Painting
  • a Certificate IV in Training and Assessing (Preferred)
  • demonstrated leadership, maturity, sound judgement, confidence in decision making, developed capabilities to coach, mentor and motivate prisoners
  • the ability to train, instruct and supervise staff and prisoners
  • sound knowledge of OH&S requirements relevant to the trade area, relevant legislative responsibilities related to employment supervision and training of industry workers

All candidates must successfully completed the Pre Service training.
