The Department of Justice and Regulation is seeking to appoint to three General Manager Prison roles as follows:

  • General Manager, Loddon Prison
  • General Manager, Langi Kal Kal Prison
  • General Manager, Dhurringile Prison

Under a regionalised model, the General Manager has responsibility for managing and leading a prison to achieve their vision and direction, as well as contribute to Corrections Victoria's mission of delivering a safe and secure adult correctional system.

The General Manager leads all disciplines to achieve business objectives and performance benchmarks, identifies and responds to emerging strategic issues, and develops and implements business plans consistent with the Regional Services Network and Corrections Victoria's strategic priorities.

The roles require a demonstrated ability to analyse, develop, and critically evaluate security and offender management issues, in the context of the Corrections Act 1986 and Corrections Regulations 2009.

The ability to think and act strategically while managing day-to-day operations effectively is a key requirement of these positions. You will need demonstrated leadership skills, experience in managing staff, and both financial and physical resources. You will bring an acute understanding of the organizational environment, and the ability to build collaborative partnerships and develop innovative programs and initiatives.

This is an opportunity to make an important contribution to the community and be a key player in the ongoing development of prison operations across Victoria.

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • knowledge of correctional practices
  • demonstrated experience in management of operational service delivery
  • strong personal integrity and communication skills
  • the ability to lead and interact with diverse range of stakeholders across Corrections Victoria, the department, government, and the community.
