An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Corrections Intelligence Analyst on a full time, ongoing basis in Corrections Victoria Intelligence Unit.

Corrections Victoria Intelligence Service (CVIS) is the overarching intelligence service for Corrections Victoria and its stakeholders. Presently the CVIS comprises the primary intelligence unit known as the Corrections Victoria Intelligence Unit (CVIU), and Prison Intelligence Unit (PIU) located at the twelve public and two private prison facilities in Victoria.

The position of Senior Corrections Intelligence Analyst will have the primary responsibility for supervising the collection, recording, analysis and dissemination of information, with a specific focus on Youth Justice Facilities and Prison Management to identify potential offender risks/threats, prevent offender escapes, and prevent the introduction and usage of contraband within Youth Justice and CV facilities.

This position reports to the General Manager, Corrections Victoria Intelligence Unit and will have oversight of both tactical and strategic intelligence functions, and the analysis and presentation of information to management and authorised persons/external agencies as required.

This position is created to support Youth Justice management in maintaining the security, good order and management of Youth Justice facilities.

The Senior Corrections Intelligence Analyst will supervise teams working from the Malmsbury and Parkville Youth Justice Facilities and will report the General Manager of CVIU. Therefore the Senior Corrections Intelligence Analyst will need to work from the Statewide Services Building at Ravenhall as well as Malmsbury and Parkville Youth Justice Facilities as required.

As our ideal candidate, you will be required to demonstrate:

  • Significant experience in delivering both tactical and strategic intelligence functions in a correctional or law enforcement setting.
  • A sound knowledge of contemporary principles and practises that apply to intelligence functions within the criminal justice system and across intelligence agencies.
  • Good understanding of the relevant legislation and policies that drive practises in a youth justice centre.
  • Knowledge of the youth justice system, particularly the principles and philosophy underpinning relevant legislation and the Victorian Youth Justice program
  • Knowledge of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 and associated policies and guidelines developed for use by youth justice workers.
  • Knowledge of the Corrections Act 1986 and Corrections Regulations 1998.
  • Experience in the use of information management systems, preferably Analyst Notebook and/or other data technologies is highly desirable.
