An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Records Officer on an ongoing basis in Corrections Victoria.

Corrections Victoria is responsible for the direction, management and operation of Victoria's corrections system, which incorporates prisons and Community Correctional Services. As a service agency within the Department of Justice and Regulation, Corrections Victoria develops and implements policies, programs and services that ensure the safe and secure containment of prisoners and seek to rehabilitate offenders by addressing underlying causes of offending behaviour. In doing so, Corrections Victoria delivers a safe and secure corrections system that actively engages offenders and the community to promote positive behaviour change.

Sentence Calculation and Warrant Administration (SCWA), a unit within the Sentence Management Division, is responsible for the recording and management of warrants, the correct calculation of sentences and for supporting the Corrections Victoria's task of producing individuals to Courts in a timely manner. 

Reporting to the Deputy Manager, SCWA, the Senior Records Officer is responsible and accountable for conducting and leading staff in the activities of sentence calculation, administration of the reception and discharge requirements, processing of gaol orders and ensuring the overall function of SCWA is maintained in an effective and efficient manner. The Senior Records Officer is responsible for providing direct line management to a small team.

SCWA operates shifts on a roster basis, with coverage from 7am to 7pm, Monday to Friday, and 9am to 5pm on Saturday. This role requires shift work rostered within these hours, noting that staff are rostered for Saturday shifts approximately every third weekend. The employee will also be required for regular on-call duties, approximately every sixth week.

As our ideal candidate, an ability to interpret and apply legislative processes and policies in an operational environment will be critical, as well as strong relationship building skills and proven ability to provide advice to senior stakeholders across the department. Demonstrated expertise managing a team and preparing high level written materials will also be highly regarded.
