An exciting opportunity exists for a Manager, Professional Practice in the Sentence Management Division within Corrections Victoria.

About Us

The Sentence Management Division of Corrections Victoria is responsible for identifying prisoners' needs and matching them to correctional resources with the objective of placing and managing prisoners appropriately.

It is a process of balancing security, management and needs of the prisoners, the community need for protection and efficient and effective operation of the correctional system.

The Sentence Management Division is responsible for guiding the journey of offenders across the period of their sentence. This includes the application of risk assessment tools to assess a prisoner's general risk of re-offending and identifying their criminogenic needs.

About the role

The role of Manager, Professional Practice sits within the Systems & Planning unit of the Sentence Management Division.

Working closely with the Offender Management Development Branch, the role of Manager, Professional Practice is responsible for enhancing the quality and effectiveness of classification and risk assessments through the provision of individual support and professional development for Sentence Management Division staff.

The Manager, Professional Practice provides highly developed assessment and classification advice, and delivers regular practice forums and education sessions to embed consistency in practice in line with the Sentence Management Manual and the Risk Assessment Quality Management Strategy.

About you

To be successful you will have:

  • Proven experience in providing leadership within a highly complex service delivery area
  • An understanding of government initiatives and policies including the Reducing Re-offending and Offender Management Frameworks
  • Demonstrated experience in staff development and training
