An exciting senior ongoing opportunity exists for a General Manager, Assessment, Applications and Panel Secretariat within Corrections Victoria.

About Us

The Serious Sex Offenders (Detention and Supervision) Act 2009 (SSODSA) sets out a civil, non-punitive scheme that provides for ongoing supervision or detention of serious sex offenders who have completed their prison sentence and pose an unacceptable risk of committing further sexual offences. Correction Victoria's end-to-end management and delivery of services to serious sex offenders on post-sentence orders occurs through a multi-faceted governance and operating model.

The Post Sentence Branch, within the Offender Management Division of Corrections Victoria, provides central oversight and governance of the post sentence scheme and offenders subject to post sentence orders. It is intended that the scheme will be expanded to serious violent offenders in 2018.

About the Role

The General Manager, Assessment, Applications and Panel Secretariat is responsible for oversight and management of three functional teams within the branch:

  • Assessments: responsible for the assessment of eligible offenders to determine suitability for post sentence order.
  • Applications: responsible for the management of court applications for eligible offenders deemed suitable for post sentence order.
  • Panel Secretariat: supporting the operation of the Multi-Agency Panel and joint coordination and provision of services to offenders subject to the post sentence scheme.

The position will report the Assistant Director, Post Sentence Branch will support the effective management and strategic leadership of the branch as a member of the senior leadership team.

About You

As our ideal candidate, you will demonstrate:

  • experience in providing leadership within a highly complex service delivery area within a legislative framework
  • an ability to provide strategic and authoritative advice to senior management/the Secretary on operational and systemic matters relevant to the delivery and operation of a branch
  • experience in providing supervision to staff, performance planning and reviews to assist their ongoing growth and development.

This position is designed to address high-level government policy, legal, stakeholder and operational priorities. Your ability to utilise your knowledge of service delivery standards in a correctional environment and build an effective network with key stakeholders to provide expert advice will be critical to the success of this role.
