The Serious Sex Offenders (Detention and Supervision) Act 2009 (SSODSA) sets out a civil, non-punitive scheme that provides for the ongoing supervision or detention of serious sex offenders who have completed their prison sentence and pose an unacceptable risk of committing further sexual offences. Correction Victoria's end-to-end management and delivery of services to serious sex offenders on post-sentence orders occurs through a multi-faceted governance and operating model.

The Post Sentence Branch, within the Offender Management Division of Corrections Victoria, provides central oversight and governance of the post sentence scheme and offenders subject to post sentence orders. It is intended that the scheme will be expanded to serious violent offenders in 2018, upon the commencement of the Serious Offenders Act 2018. 

The joint Corrections Victoria and Victoria Police Sex Offender Specialist Response Unit sits within the Post Sentence Branch and has been established to enable the combination of knowledge and resources of both agencies for the management of offenders in the community who are subject to supervision orders under the SSODSA.

The Assistant Manager, Specialist Response Unit oversees the service functions of the unit and has a key role in the complex and sensitive negotiations with Victoria Police and other Corrections Victoria business areas as required. The role will also lead the Senior Coordinator, Specialist Response Unit and provide guidance and advice to others in the Post Sentence Branch as required.

As our ideal candidate, you will have excellent planning and organisation skills, the ability to partner with and establish effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and influential in your approach to achieve desired outcomes.

Qualification/s in a legal, social policy, social sciences or other relevant discipline is highly desirable.
