The Department of Justice and Regulation is offering an inspired, experienced and energetic leader the opportunity to strategically lead Victoria's correctional services system.

The Commissioner for Corrections is responsible for the overall leadership, governance and strategic direction of Victoria's corrections system. The successful applicant will be tasked with ensuring Victoria's correction system is secure, safe, adaptive and conducive to rehabilitation, with a particular emphasis on reducing re-offending and family violence.

The new Commissioner will work towards the goals in the Aboriginal Justice Agreement and promote training and education in the corrections system.

As the visible, uniformed 'Face of Corrections', the Commissioner works with a wide array of people and professions daily. The Commissioner provides authoritative policy and strategic advice to the Secretary and the Minister for Corrections on all aspects of the correctional services system. Exercising sound judgement and decision-making in complex, high-profile areas, the Commissioner provides strong leadership to achieve excellence and innovation in service and program delivery.
