Our graduate program aims to recruit and retain high quality graduates who have seek future leadership, policy and specialist careers within the Department of Justice and Regulation.

Over the 12-month program, you will work on a range of current public issues, develop your career with the department and make a difference to the wider community. 

Our graduates:

  • gain valuable experience by undertaking work rotations with two or more business units, contributing to a variety of project activities and operational tasks for the relevant business unit
  • take part in formal learning and development program and group learning project where you will work on a group project to develop your knowledge and skills in project, time, stakeholder and risk management, team building, research, policy, and report writing and you'll also reap the benefits
  • have access to executive level mentoring and dedicated graduate support
  • attend excursions to help discover how areas of the department work together to deliver on the promise of a safe and just Victoria
  • upon successful completion of the program will progress to an ongoing position.

 

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Graduate Scheme

The department is now seeking Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander graduates from a range of disciplines and interests who are passionate about contributing to the future of Victoria's public sector.

The Department of Justice and Regulation Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Graduate Scheme is an exciting and unique initiative providing employment opportunities for Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander (Koori) graduates.

Become part of our extensive Koori Staff Network (KSN), with over 160 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees and participate in a range of KSN activities including an annual state wide development conference.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • have completed or be in the final year of a minimum three-year undergraduate degree (Bachelor or equivalent, or post-graduate studies)
  • be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent
  • identify as being of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent
  • be accepted as being Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander decent within the community you live or have lived
