About us

The Loddon Mallee Region provides compliance, enforcement, and regulatory services at Justice Service Centres located in Bendigo, Swan Hill, Echuca and Mildura and at outreach locations across the region. The region also has three prisons, two within the Loddon Prison Precinct which includes a medium risk facility (Loddon) and a restricted minimum facility (Middleton). The third prison is located at Maldon, a minimum risk women's facility; Tarrengower Prison.

The services provided at these locations include Community Correction Services, Sherriff's Operations, Consumer Affairs, Dispute Settlement Centre, Offending Behaviour Programs and front of house services including Births, Deaths and Marriages applications. Corporate Services including, finance, human resources, Prisoner Property and Business Support are also provided at these locations. 

About the role

In this entry-level position, as the Administrative Officer / Justice Officer, you will perform a range of duties providing support and assistance to a range of corporate functions throughout the region. In the role, you will:

  • contribute to the delivery of personnel and payroll services to Loddon Mallee Region prisons
  • liaise with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders regarding various enquiries in a prompt and courteous manner, providing accurate information and advice
  • prepare routine correspondence and professional communications for Courts, Police and other various stakeholders
  • prepare stock estimates, obtain quotes, organise purchases to maintain stock levels for the Prisoner's Shop and Prison Stores, undertake regular stock-takes, maintain accurate records and maintain the shop in good order
  • maintain accurate documentation relating to all functions and provide routine information and advice to staff, management, clients and stakeholders, in accordance with DJCS policies and procedures.

This position will require direct prisoner contact and may involve weekend and public holiday work, remuneration is in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Enterprise Agreement.
