The Supervisor forms part of the management team that oversees the operation of Community Corrections Services (CCS) within the Drug Court of Victoria and Melbourne Court Assessment and Prosecutions Service (CAPS). The Supervisor has direct leadership and management responsibility for a team of CCS staff comprising Drug Court Case Managers and Court and Prosecution Services (CAPs) staff. The Supervisor works closely with the other Supervisors Drug Court and Court Practice, CCS Managers, Drug Court staff, Court Services Victoria and other stakeholders as required to develop, implement, maintain and support CCS functions within the specialist Drug Court and CCS Court Services. The Supervisor will be required to act as Officer in Charge as directed.

The position works across a number of DJR and court sits within the Melbourne CBD.

In this role you will:

  • Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team of Drug Court Case Managers and Court Assessment and Prosecution (CAPs) staff including facilitating the allocation of workloads, providing professional supervision and
  • Mange resources and activities within the unit to ensure consistency with operating procedures and legislative requirements of the Drug Court of Victoria, Court Services Unit and CCS, including acting as officer in charge.
  • Contribute to and report against the development of local initiatives and business plans of both the Drug Court of Victoria and Court Services Unit, CCS.
  • Advise the Manager Court Practice and Drug Court regarding operational issues including financial and human resources functions and requirements.
  • Develop, manage and maintain key relationships with the internal and external stakeholders, including the Department of Justice, court staff, Magistrates, community organisations, drug treatment agencies, peer agencies, and other Victorian Government Departments and Non-Government Organisations.
  • Implement, monitor and negotiate access to a range of service options available to Drug Court participants within the program, and participate in the planning and development of appropriate community based services.
  • Represent and market CCS and the Drug Court (where appropriate) in public forums and the community.

 

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • demonstrated experience in managing highly complex / high profile case loads, including proven assessment and intervention skills
  • demonstrated knowledge of the philosophy, operating procedures and manuals, CCS' vision and direction and developments in correctional services and the Victorian Criminal Justice System
  • demonstrated experience and knowledge of best practice case management frameworks including the provision of needs assessment in a human services context and an ability to implement theoretical concepts to reduce risk and maximise individual outcomes
  • problem solving skills - utilising specialist knowledge and expertise to address complex problems, gathering relevant information and generating and testing a range of solutions and outcomes
  • people management skills – effectively manage the work of others, outlining objectives and expectations, addressing performance and providing a supportive work environment where individuals feel challenged and have access to appropriate developmental opportunities.
